Within every art form there exists an unending renaissance
... Somewhere between the sacralization of a work, which kills it by rendering it inviolable and the betrayal of a work, which only corrupts it, Barbe & Doucet affirm the importance of theatrical emotions as the vector for reflecting upon the present...
A STIMULATING 2018-19 SEASON.
We have been preparing 3 new productions for you:
- the staged revival of Il Bravo, a forgotten score by Mercadante, at the Wexford Festival Opera
- the celebration of Jacques Offenbach bicentennial in his native city of Köln with La Grande Duchesse de Gerolstein
- the very inspiring Die Zauberflöte at the Glyndebourne Festival.
Also, Don Pasquale & La Bohème, 2 productions that we originally created for the Scottish Opera, will travel again. After being presented with great success last season in st Gallen - Switzerland, La Bohème is sailing to the Pacific coast of Canada joining the repertoire of Vancouver Opera. After its Florida visit in Miami our Don Pasquale will be presented in Italy at the Teatro Carlo Felice in Genova.
Some audience favorites are also coming back this season: The Sound of Music & Les Contes d'Hoffmann at the Volksoper Wien and La Belle Hélène at the Hamburg Staatsoper.
WE WISH YOU ALL AN EXCELLENT OPERA SEASON.
