TESTIMONIALS

JENNIFER LARMORE - MEZZO SOPRANO : I can truthfully say that working with Renaud Doucet is one of the highlights of my long association with directors. To find a director that actually knows the repertoire, the types of voices who should be involved, the composer and their practices is rare. He directs from the score itself, after having delved into the music, the rhythm, the text, and the entire world the music can create. Being so involved with the music means the staging will be exactly right for the singer, bringing the natural cadences out with the actor/singer’s natural movement. The sense of achievement at the end of working with Renaud is huge. One feels that they have been in a serious, carefully planned and masterfully executed rehearsal process, which leads to a feeling of well being, excitement, and stress-free preparedness onstage.

MARCELLO PUENTE - TENOR : I met Renaud Doucet singing my first Calaf. His knowledge of the score both dramatically and musically combined with his directorial skills tremendously helped me to develop into this character that now became one of my signature role.  I can only recommend young & professional singers to prepare their repertoire with Renaud. It is an investment that will be valuable for years.

GABRIELE ROSSMANITH - KAMMERSÄNGERIN - Staatsoper Hamburg : To work with Renaud Doucet as a stage director was truly inspiring and a big joy.  What makes Renaud Doucet’s work so special is his love for details and precise evaluation of what is possible for a singing body. He is a director who helps the singers because he understands what we need to be able to perform to the best of our possibilities. He is a very clear and open minded director, coach and mentor.

MARY DUNLEAVY - SOPRANO : My experience working with Renaud on Thaïs remains one of my all time highlights of my career. Renaud had a way of finding emotional details that I wasn’t aware of or wasn’t ready to look at. He guided me on the journey of discovering this complex character and I felt safe to explore and try out ideas. Ours was a true partnership in the rehearsal process, which is unfortunately all too rare in opera. Renaud and André create singular, unique worlds for their operas unlike any other team. I want to work with them again and again.

EVERYONE IS CREATIVE

Creativity is the most powerful competitive advantage a business or social structure can have. We are not talking about high art, but empowering people to use their imaginations and think differently though exchanges and visual exercises.
We have been invited in 2015 & 2016 to present this conference at SEMPRE SANO – Health & Wellness Seminar in Monteverdi, Tuscany to a world-class faculty of leading physicians and other experts specializing in cancer treatment.

THE CREATIVE PROCESS  IN DEVELOPING  A NEW PRODUCTION

Going through our own experiences and portfolio, we look at the different steps of the creative process leading to a full staging of an opera production. We discuss the taking into consideration of all the artistic, technical and logistic requirements of the different companies and their theatres as well as the special needs of the singers and the music department versus our choices of staging, designing and dramaturgy.
Many video excerpts, photos, original annotated scores, costume renderings and stage models are used to familiarize the audiences with this "Behind the scene" aspect of Opera.
